a test by definition is only a measurement, or evaluation, involving no intervention, not meant to make any difference.
in diabetes you measure blood sugar to see if it is too high or too low, to monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Now your treatment could be control of diet, taking pills, or giving insulin injections.
of course herbal medicines have effects, most of the drugs we use where purified from some natural substances. This means that herbal medicines also have side effects. after all tobacco, marijuana, opium, poison ivy, and curare are also 'herbal'

Is all dry cat food bad for cats?
Q. This is what I am beginning to believe. I have looked at several sources of information for this (some right here at Yahoo Answers) and it looks like dry food is essentially unhealthy for your cat. My cat is quite possibly diabetic, and it really looks like he should not have any dry food, and that includes the dry food made specifically for diabetic cats.
Now, I have seen cats live a long time eating only dry food. But maybe they would have been even healthier and had greater longevity without it.
What do you think?

Perhaps a good clue to what cats need is found when looking at what wild cats eat (in the wild).
I can accept that maybe some cats do fine on dry food for whatever reason. But I have a hard time accepting that dry food is actually BETTER than wet food. I wonder if folks who believe this think that a diebetic cat should still eat well formulated dry food instead of all wet food?
I am in the process of getting treatment for my cat who likely has diabetes, though this has not yet been confirmed. And therefore I am looking at all info available.

Since I have been here,I have tried preaching the evils of dry foods. It's probably me you are reading So many health problems stem from dry foods with dabetes at the top to go along with obesity crystals kidney disease ect.. Ask your vet what makes the prescription food for diabetics prescription or good for diabetics and he won't know the anser (I promise) The answer being it was the lowest carn dry food at the time it was developed but still had too many carbs vompared to many canned foods. Innova evo is now the lowest carb dry and even has a semblance of quality, I have said it before and will again. After working on a diabetes board and seeing cats with kidney disease, poancreatis and of course diabetes, I would give the worst quality canned over any dry food out there.
Here's another problem for you. Many vets aren't up to date with diabetes treatment and you can go to 20 different vets and get 20 different treatments for your cat. You need to be proactive and take control of this with the vet as your backup.
I can help you all the way through this so please whatever the vet says, start on a low dose of insulin (1 unit 2x a day at most), have the vet teach you shots and whatever else and email me so I can give you the tools to rake care of your cat.
