What are some tests doctors would do to test if you have diabeties?

Q. Im making a story about a girl discovering she has diabeties and if your wondering I want her to have type 1 and shes a 13 year old girl whose not overweight.
So what are tests doctors would do to see if you have type 1 diabeties? Thanks

A. Fasting blood glucose level -- diabetes is diagnosed if it is higher than 126 mg/dL on two occasions
Random (nonfasting) blood glucose level -- diabetes is suspected if it is higher than 200 mg/dL, and the patient has symptoms such as increased thirst, urination, and fatigue (this must be confirmed with a fasting test)
Oral glucose tolerance test -- diabetes is diagnosed if the glucose level is higher than 200 mg/dL after 2 hours.
Hemoglobin A1c test -- this test has been used in the past to help patients monitor how well they are controlling their blood glucose levels. In 2010, the American Diabetes Association recommended that the test be used as another option for diagnosing diabetes and identifying pre-diabetes. Levels indicate:
Normal: Less than 5.7%
Pre-diabetes: Between 5.7% and 6.4%
Diabetes: 6.5% or higher
Ketone testing is also used in type 1 diabetes. Ketones are produced by the breakdown of fat and muscle. They are harmful at high levels. The ketone test is done using a urine sample.

Hope this helps.

what do i do if my hamster has diabeties?
Q. i think it might have diabeties what should i do to make him comfy.
dwarf hamsters do get diabeties.

A. Hamsters can, develop diabetes, Syrians and Dwarfs. Whether young or old, the chances of a hamster developing diabetes also increase with age. Obese and overweight hamsters are more at risk. A diabetic hamster can show a range of signs, may I ask what signs are giving you cause for concern. Please don't just assume that your hamster has diabetes if excessive drinking and urinating are observed. A bladder or kidney infection can cause these same symptoms. The cause of diabetes mellitus (type 2) is complex, and involves both genetic and environmental factors. This condition can be kept under control by diet alone, there is no cure. A vetinary visit may be needed to confirm if he has diabetes or not.
